005 7 nights safari - Samburu / sweetwaters / Aberdares / Lake Nakuru
/Maasai Mara.
Day 1 – Arrival and welcome.
Arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta international airport to be received
by our client service representative who guides you to our van or
bus for a transfer to the hotel for Dinner/ briefing session and
the night’s accomodation.
Day 2 – Samburu National park – 344 kms from
Nairobi. (Flight package available).
After breakfast you leave Nairobi and drive on tarmac through Kikuyu
farmland. You pass several towns on including Thika, Nanyuki, Naromoru,
and Isiolo before branching where the tarmac ends. You enjoy views
of the snow-capped mt. Kenya on the way before branching off to
this famous 165 square kms wildlife sanctuary. You will check into
Samburu lodge or Samburu Serena lodge or similar for lunch and brief
relaxation and then in the afternoon embark on a game drive. Dinner/
entertainment by Samburu dancers and overnight accommodation at
the lodge.
Day 3 – Game Drives
Today you will enjoy two extensive game drives in the morning and
the afternoon semi arid open savannah plains where you will have
lunch and relax at the lodge in between the game drives. The park
main attractions include the crocodiles, ostrich, giraffe’s
zebras, and buffalos. The park also supports a wide variety of bird
life such as the Somali ostriches and numerous bird species. The
Buffalo springs located south of samburu across the Ewaso Nyiro
river is a stretch of grassy lowland plains and the wonderfully
clear Buffalo springs. Dinner/ Entertainment by the samburu dancers
and accommodation at the lodge.
Day 4 – Sweetwaters Game Reserve and Chimpanzee Sanctuary
After breakfast you check out of the lodge and depart for Sweetwaters
Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch. Sweet waters is in the
slopes of Mt. Kenya and overlooks a floodlit water hole offering
the visitors an unforgettable opportunity to view and shoot pictures
of animals in their natural habitat. (Options escorted walking safaris,
bird walks and camel safaris) Other animals in the reserves include
elephants, buffalo, baboon, jackals, ostrich rhino etc
Dinner and overnight accommodation at Sweetwater’s tented
camp.
Day 5 – Aberdares.
Early morning game viewing in Sweetwaters and then breakfast before
departure. Views of Mt. Kenya and other beautiful scenery on the
way. You will reach Outspan golf and country club in time for lunch
and a kikuyu cultural tour. In the afternoon you will be transferred
to the treetops Hotel to be met by an armed ranger who explains
the common sense rules of behaviour in a friendly fashion. The lodge
rises out of the ground on stilts. It has various decks and a rooftop
view platform. Solely dedicated to game viewing
The accommodation is compact and cosy. Animals to see include Elephants,
Rhino, leopard, bushbucks, the elusive Bongo and the giant forest
hog.
Dinner and overnight accomodation at Treetops.
Day 6 – Lake Nakuru national park.
Breakfast at Outspan golf and country club and then proceed towards
Nakuru via Nyahururu where you have a brief stopover for Tea and
a view of the Thomson falls. You reach Nakuru in time for lunch
and an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru is one of the most popular
parks in Kenya. In the Rift Valley it is often referred as the pink
lake for its great masses of pink flamingos. You have the opportunity
to see millions of them together besides thousands of other birds.
Other animals in the park include rhino, elephants, leopard, waterbucks,
Buffalo, warthog, hippos, gazelles, etc. Dinner and overnight accommodation
at Lake Nakuru lodge or Sarova loin hill lodge.
Day 7 – Maasai Mara game reserve.
After an early morning games drive you go back to the lodge for
breakfast and check out as you start your journey to the Maasai
Mara. You view more game as you exit the park. Other views on the
way include rivers, forests, escarpments and other beautiful sceneries
before crossing the vast Loita plains on your way to Kenya’s
most scenic Park _the Maasai Mara. You will check into the lodge
in time for lunch before enjoying an afternoon game drive. Dinner/
entertainment by Maasai dancers and overnight accommodation at the
lodge.
Day 8 – Game drives.
Today you will conduct two extensive game drives in the morning
and afternoon in this expansive park. Lunch and relaxation in the
lodge. swimming, playing cards etc. There are plenty of animals
in this park and our driver guides know how to spot them easily.lions,
cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, elephants, and even the elusive rhino
may just come out of the thicket for you. Look out for the annual
migration from the Serengeti when millions of wild beasts cross
over to the Mara in such of greener pastures between July and September.
Dinner and overnight accommodation at the lodge.
Day 9 – Maasai Mara / Nairobi Departure.
After one more game drive in the morning you go back to the lodge
for breakfast and check out to start your journey back to Nairobi.
You view more game as you exit the park. You may briefly visit (optional)
a Maasai village to buy curios, see Maasai manyattas or even enjoy
a traditional dance. You will reach Nairobi in time for lunch. The
afternoon may be spent shopping / relaxing with a brief city tour
before going to the world famous Carnivore restaurant for a farewell
dinner. You will then be transferred to the airport to take your
flight back home.
